Keeping fingers and toes crossed!

Starting today, we’re bringing this experience to thousands of schools around the world with the new Expeditions Pioneer Program. During the 2015/2016 school year, we’ll be bringing “kits” containing everything a teacher needs to run a virtual trip for their class: ASUS smartphones, a tablet for the teacher to direct the tour, a router that allows Expeditions to run without an Internet connection, and Google Cardboard viewers or Mattel View-Masters that turn phones into virtual reality headsets. Although nothing replaces hopping on the bus for a field trip, there are some places that are just out of reach (hello, Chichen Itza!). Virtual reality gives teachers a tool to take students places a school bus can't.

Homecoming Week!

I'm co-advisor for the Class of 2016 (Seniors!!!). They did an awesome job decorating their wall in the first event of Spirit Week leading up to our Homecoming pep rally/parade/football game on Friday. Can't wait to see if they take the trophy at the end. I'm hearing good plans for their float! The overall theme is "It's a Small World" and the seniors selected Africa.

So excited!

It's like Christmas! We just got the Google Docs Voice Typing and the Google Sheets "explore" feature turned on today. Can't wait to see how our teachers are going to use these features.

Google Draw

As you know, I'm a Google Draw devotee!  I just discovered this video by Joshua Pomeroy creating vector portraits in Google Draw. This is fantastic! I just shared this with our art teachers, and now I'm sharing with the world!

Please check this out and let me know if you're as impressed as I am.

NYSCATE Annual Conference

A few of us from Dansville will be presenting at the Annual NYSCATE (NYS Association for Computers and Technologies in Education) state conference in November.

Tentative schedule shows sessions by us on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!

If you haven't been able to attend before, be sure you do this year--it's the 50th anniversary.  The link to the annual conference is: http://www.nyscate.org/conferences.cfm?subpage=718

Oh, and don't forget about the Rochester Mini Maker Faire on Saturday before the conference.
